History of the Club

The Stafford Roller Sports Club has a long and successful history dating back to 1971. Originally the club featured teams of artistic skaters, roller hockey teams and speed skaters (inline came later in 1988). 

Stafford Roller Sports Club hockey players have represented Australia at several World Championships.

Here are some highlights from the early 1990's. 

In 1990 Australia ranked 3rd in the World Roller Hockey Championships "B" Group. The Championships were held in Macau and 22 nations participated. The 1991 World Roller Hockey Championships in Porto, Portugal, were not the success Australia had hoped for with the team ranking 12th in the "A" Group.

In 1992 roller hockey was a demonstration sport at the Barcelona Olympics and Australia sent a team that included several Stafford club members notably the captain Chris Raggett and coach Robert Carter (now a SRSC Life Member).
